Friday morning at Hacienda Santa Veronica. Checking the gear meeting everyone and getting ready for the 200+ mile ride down to San Felipe.
Sometimes the road is wide open and the going is relatively easy.
Other times there are obstacles that must be circumnavigated.
The trip from Veronica's to San Felipe takes you through the cool pines to the HOT dry lake bed then down to the beach.
Gas stops along the way like this one at "Ramona's" can be quite primative. Others like this one at Valle de Trinidad (75 miles from San Felipe) are more contemporary.
Baja Mar Hotel, San Felipe. Luxury accommodations include secured parking.
All cleaned up and enjoying the first of many cool beverages.
One of many taco carts that come out after dark. The food is actually good.
The dancing girls however, leave a bit to be desired.......
Morning comes and as the fog rolls out, so do the gill netters in their "fishing" boats.
Al's buggy lost all hydraulics
(no brakes, no clutch)
Patrick & the rest of the group that couldn't make it on Friday showed up in the Jeep Saturday afternoon with the parts and after a few hours the buggy was back on the road - good as new....
Rest stop between San Felipe and Mike's Sky Ranch. The gang's all here now.
The ride from Valle de Trinidad to Mike's is one of the best on the trip so far. It does get considerably more difficult near the end - then of course there's the water crossing... (don't drop it here!!)
Room and board is the deal at Mike's and both are good enough for the likes of this group.
Morning at Mike's on the last day of the trip.
When it was all said and done the total distance traveled was 455 miles. I never thought I'd be doing that on a dirt bike. It was a GREAT time and I think it's safe to say that this won't be my last dirt bike trip to Mexico.
