Day five started with a trip to downtown Sturgis to have a look around and make a run at the vendors.  We got there early and it was already getting difficult to park.
We had breakfast and checked out the vendors up and down main street including a couple visits to Sturgis Harley Davidson.  When we got back to the bikes I decided to charge my cell phone and discovered that my charger didn't work.  Next stop, the Verizon store in Rapid City, 30 miles away in the rain.  If the bikes weren't dirty before they certainly are now.  Working charger purchased and cell phone charging, we headed for Montana.  Alzada is about 5 miles across the Montana border and we stopped there for a cold beverage before gassing up and heading back.  It's a pretty cool old bar inside, (no pics) and I wouldn't be surprised if this couple a weeks generates more money than the rest of the year combined for this place.
If you look closely - you can see the advertisement just above the roof of the saloon.
Cheap Drinks             Lousy Food
On the way back from Montana the mounting bracket for the GPS broke.  There was some road construction and there was a sign that said Bump.  What the sign should have said was CURB.  I was surprised at what a jolt it was and out of the corner of my eye I saw the GPS falling.  Luckily, it was plugged in so I was able to grab the power cord and save it as it headed for the asphalt.  Stopped at a Napa store in Deadwood and got some JB Weld and will hope that works.  Sure would hate to be without that GPS.
There's just no telling what you're going to see in Sturgis.  These guys were out early -

They must have lost a bet
We got our first Sturgis souviner before we even parked the bikes.  Seems the local police weren't too impressed with our U-turn in the middle of one of the busier streets.  They collected our ID's and even though the rest of our paperwork for the bikes wasn't in order or even there, they let us off with a warning and gave us a Sturgis pin.
Back at camp, I got the JB Weld mixed up and my fingers crossed.  I think it'll work, that stuff is amazing.  Time to go get something to eat (yes they have that here too) and get ready for the Toby Kieth concert tonight.
This guy was selling hats.
I almost bought one like his.
This guy don't need no stinkin' straw hat.
One of the between acts entertainers.

Hot Enough Already
We were warned that the Toby Kieth concert could be a pretty big fight night with the local cowboys getting liquored up before coming out to see him; at least that's what happened last year.  Far as we could tell, there was none of that kind of trouble this year - the concert was very good.
Back to Sturgis
