Today started with this sunrise and a sprinkle here and there as I was getting the bike packed.
I am really looking forward to the next 65 miles.  Southern Utah is one of my favorite places to ride because it's so scenic and unpopulated; and this is one of my favorite stretches of asphalt.
This is where I would have liked to go.
(into the light - so to speak)
This is where the road goes.....
Even in the rain - sometimes quite hard, this is a great ride.  It starts in the pine trees as you go aound a small mountain.  Next, you're riding along a very narrow road that is perched on the very top of a ridge between two canyons; part of Hell's Backbone.  From there you descend into the canyons for several miles and arrive in Escalante.
Part of the Hell's Backbone area.
Looking back
This is where I was.
The canyon on one side of the backbone.
This is where you
cross your fingers
& twist the throttle.
Back to Sturgis
